August Scripture Calendar Trust the Lord

August 1, 2025

Hey Friend,

Everyone was gone, we had accomplished a lot. Two storage rooms were organized and put in a workable order, but I was a mess.

I arrived first, turned on the Air Conditioners in the old sanctuary (now used for Kids Church and mid week Bible Study). It was a HOT Texas afternoon. As I began to pull out the high chair, mic stand and all kinds of Kids Church game and craft material I began to sweat.

I know a lady should say perspire, but let me tell you that an hour later you could wing my hair out. I left the house rushed so I did not put on any make up (just packed it in my bag) and thus when I walked in the restroom, after everyone was gone, and looked in the mirror - Oh My! and I had sat down to cool off and chatted with one of the other worker's husband for about half hour. What a sight he had to look at as we chatted.

I had forgotten that I did't even put on make up. It reminded me of what James says. The Word of God is like a mirror. We can look into it and then step away and if we don't do something about what we looked at then we forget and go on. But others can see our short comings that we forgot about.

I became a doer of the reflection in the restroom mirror that day and I want to be a doer of the reflection of the Word of God when I read it.

James 1
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

Our mouths speak words from our heart and are a window to the reality of who we are. It is a reflection of the man/woman that is living the Word of Truth or doubting and running fearful.

For August we will focus on trusting God especially for life direction. As you read your scripture for the day, turn it into a prayer and ask the Lord to make you a doer of His Word.

April 1, 2025 Know God - Align your thoughts with His - Grow in His Kingdom Being born again in Christ means we are made completely new—redeemed, restored, and given a new identity in Him. Our past no longer defines us, and we are no longer bound by sin and darkness. Instead, we have been given the righteousness of Christ, His authority, and a seat with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). When we truly understand who we are in Him, we stop striving to earn God's approval and begin living...
