How to Trust the Lord when Life Feels out of Control (Blog)

When Life Feels Like It's Unraveling

When you are feeling frazzled and like life is unraveling, take a breath and grab the reins of life. It is time to refocus and stop looking at the wind and waves that are crashing all around you and the rickety bridge you are on.

The enemy of God wants to keep you in the turmoil where the waters are whirling sound about you so fast you can barely keep your head above water.

Focus on God's Unchanging Truth

Reach for the reins of your soul and focus your thoughts on the only truth that is real. The whirling facts seem very real, and they are, but they can change. (Read More)

Summer of Psalms Calendar

Summer is nearing the end and actually I am glad. It's way too hot here in Texas. I have enjoyed our Summer of the Psalms. This is the third summer to focus on the Psalms. I hope you are enjoying the Scripture calendars.

August this year we are focusing on the longest Psalm.

Psalm 119.

On our August calendar each day's passage is a little longer than usual.

This psalm is written in Hebrew Acrostic poetry style (ABCs). There are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet and Psalm 119 is one of the most noted of this style. Although there are other psalms written similarly.

As you read and meditate on each day's passage take note of the words for God's Ways; law, commandments, statutes, precepts and word or promise. Each has a little different meaning which can be looked up with the Blue Letter Bible.

I will add some of these means to the August emails. So stay tune and may God open the eyes of your understanding and draw you closer to him through this Psalm.

Hey Reader, Trusting God for Direction When You Don’t Know What to Do If you've ever traveled with children, you’ve probably heard that question more than once. Are we there yet? How much longer? But honestly, don’t we sometimes ask God the similar questions? “Am I where I am supposed to be?”“Am I going in the right direction?”“What am I to do next?” We have dreams and places we want to go. But is that where the Lord wants us? Are we in the right job, living in the right city? Who should I...

Hey Reader, Put Feet to Your Faith: How to Be a Doer of the Word You know when you've been worrying about something for so long that you finally say, “Okay, enough thinking and fretting about this. I need to do something!” Maybe you've been praying about something, but you can’t stop feeling fretful over the situation. You've studied what God's Word says about it. You've memorized the Scripture. You've thought about it over and over, but the fretful thoughts keep coming. There comes a point...

Hey Reader, Have you ever just had so much going on that you just couldn’t do another thing and the things you were in rhythm to were totally out of sync. I remember a crazy busy season of our pastor's life that on Monday evening (after work at my full time job) I crashed on the couch and said take me away somewhere we don’t have to drive or pack up and repack. No road trip - from hotel to hotel. My next statement was something like, if I wouldn’t need a passport I’d want a cruise. My son...
