Core Values - the values we have established in our lives (knowingly or unknowingly) are what we base our decisions and actions on every day. I believe we have a set of values that we live by whether we identify them or not.

I do not believe that Core Values are found by what we like, and find enjoyment in. I was once given an exercise to discover my core values and came up with creativity and something else. While these are things that give my life enjoyment, they are not what I live by. They may be where I found my "happy place".

For a company that has established Core Values they might be Communication, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity and Excellence. Yet, these can be hollow Core Values if they are not lived up to. They are almost more like Core Aspirations. The wanta be list.

I believe that every Believer in Jesus Christ who wants to life for him needs a set of Core Values to base their life on. These may start out to be Core Aspiration, but as you develop your understanding of the truths behind each one then begin to life in the Way of the Lord soon they will be how you make every decision every day. (Did you know Christians were originally called people of the Way.)

Over the next few months I will focus on these Core Values. September we will focus on the Word of God. How it is everlasting! How it is true! How it is relevant for today! (Yes even for today!)

The Word of God is Paramount

Have you ever considered the integrity of something like a bridge or building? When I think of the word “integrity”, I usually think of being honest, however, integrity can be used in other situations as well.
Integrity of a building or bridge is more about the structure and lasting endurance. We can assume your car weighs around 5,000 pounds. All the cars on the bridge with you are around that amount of weight and trucks may be double. We trust the engineering of the bridge to hold us up and we drive over it without thinking about it.
